How toTame Dragons and Hush Hyenas

This imaginative and humorous children’s book teaches young readers how to navigate their emotions and conquer their fears - one wild adventure at a time!

The story follows Jeremy, a boy whose anger manifests into chaotic fire-breathing dragons and mischievous hyenas, wreaking havoc in the classroom. Through expressive and dynamic illustrations, I brought Jeremy’s journey to life, visually capturing the transformation from frustration to self-control.

Using my personal vector art style, I infused bright colours and exaggerated expressions to enhance the book’s energetic and comedic tone, making it engaging for kids. One of the biggest challenges was ensuring the dragons and hyenas were both intimidating yet playful, striking the perfect balance between fear and fun. With close collaboration and detailed feedback from the author, I refined every visual element to ensure the storytelling aligned seamlessly with the book’s message.

My proudest accomplishment in this project was successfully illustrating Jeremy’s emotional transformation - turning his fiery chaos into an empowering journey of growth and self-mastery.
